Reason #1 why Sweden sucks - no garbage disposals

Face it, Sweden hates convenience. That's why even though kitchen disposals have been on the market since 1938 Sweden refuses to embrace them. Though they like to be considered one of the most "modern" countries in the world - instead of simply allowing food waste in your sink to be chopped up and whisked away at the flip of a switch, you are expected to scoop up slimy food matter with your hands using one of these "modern scoop devices" in flimsy plastic:



Considering how much they love potatoes and refuse to eat the peels, you'd think they'd actually appreciate the humble garbage disposal unit, but alas...that's just too easy. No wonder this seems to be the place that all fruit flies go on permanent vacation.

So, do you want to fish out slimy potato peels, last night's ground beef, and eggshells out of the sink with your hands?
